New York Dolls - 'Cause I Sez So (Reviewed by Tox of 14 Carat Grapefruit)

When I heard this album I thought, oh YES!!! the New York Dolls still fuckin' ROCK! Mr Johansen and the boys have really pulled ALL the stops out for this one.

The songs are pure rock excellence, from the caustic and aggressive title track ‘Cause I sez so, to the re-recording of Trash, better than you, which is a wonderful song of justification towards a lover. The production, by none other than Todd Rundgren, is fantastic too.

I was a little worried that being 2009, and a little late in the Dolls' career, that this wasn't going to be any good, but from the first track, all my doubts vanished. The quality and high standards continue all the way to the last track.

Do I like rock'n'roll? ... YES I DO!!! Blown away? ... Yes, I was.

New York Dolls are rock royalty, and long may they reign. If you just want a taster check them out doing 'Cause I sez so on Later with Jools Holland.

It's always a good sign when the singer in my band doesn't like something, 'cos he knows fuck all about music! (easy - Ed) And of course, he didn't like this. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CHECK THIS ALBUM OUT. It will be money well spent.
